European Patent Validations in Turkey

Validating your European patent in Turkey is a simple, stress-free process when you have the right partner. Here is a brief guide to what is required, and how you can estimate your validation costs instantly.

What You Need for Validation

Turkish law requires that you validate your European patent within three months of the mention of grant being published in the European Patent Bulletin.

What Turkish Law Requires:

  • Turkish translation of the specification and claims
  • Title and abstract of the patent in Turkish
  • Front page of the B1 publication
  • Information regarding the proprietor and the inventor(s)
  • Formal Request for validation
  • Payment of the validation fee
  • For foreign applicants, all formalities must be completed through a registered Turkish patent attorney

To Get Started, We Only Need:

  • Your European Patent number
  • A quick Go-Ahead from you

That is really all we need. Although, if you could also share the specification in an editable format (e.g., .doc or .docx), that would make things even easier.

Timing and Deadlines

European patents must be validated in Turkey within three months from the date of publication of the mention of grant in the European Patent Bulletin.

This deadline can be extended by three additional months, provided that the request for the extension is made within the original three-month period, and that the related fee is paid.

Once we are entrusted with a case, we monitor all deadlines and take care of the necessary steps to ensure a smooth and timely validation. We also remind you of future renewal deadlines automatically.

You do not need to track the timing, we do that for you.
